Letter from East Tennessee Executive Director Michelle Hankes, April 2015

April is National Volunteer Month. However, it's ridiculous to think that just 30 days are enough to express the appropriate thanks to those of you who are the lifeblood of the American Red Cross!

In the East Tennessee Chapter, about 2,000 volunteers bring comfort and care to those who have lost their homes to disaster, taught children how to stay safe, educated communities on emergency first aid, reconnected military with loved ones, and so much more. I am in awe of your passion and commitment to the mission every day!

But we also have volunteers who support that mission in less traditional ways: auditing financials, answering phones, checking tires, changing light bulbs. Thanks to these folks who make it possible for the direct service staff to do their jobs!

Help us grow our family. A heavy load becomes very light when there are many hands to lift it. Invite someone to join the Red Cross today! Invite someone to make a difference in their community!
