American Red Cross Nissan Lifesaver Luncheon Scheduled for April 11

Panelist to highlight the need for blood donation in Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 25, 2024 – The American Red Cross, Nashville Area Chapter will host the Nissan Lifesaver Luncheon presented by Randy and Jennifer Wolcott and Kevin and Katie Crumbo at Belmont University on April 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This year’s event will be held at the Curb Event Center at Belmont University in Nashville. This event is one of the largest celebrations of the Red Cross service and fundraiser for mission delivery to the citizens of Tennessee.

This year’s event will highlight Humanitarian Heroes in our community and will feature a panel discussion with mega blood donor and Red Cross employee, Brett Crystal, and blood recipient and mass shooting survivor, Sharita Henderson. Crystal has donated more than 365 units of blood products in his lifetime and has saved thousands of lives in the process. Henderson is a survivor of the 2018 Antioch Waffle House mass shooting. Deciding to turn tragedy into triumph, she became a fervent social justice advocate who uses her platform to educate her community on mental health and disability resources, blood donation importance, champion victim and survivor rights, and eradicate gun violence.

The chapter will honor local humanitarian heroes who have made significant impacts in Tennessee with their philanthropic work. The honorees include

  • Good Samaritan Award – Lisa Williams
  • Community Partner Award – The Nashville Fire Department
  • Disaster Services Award – Stephen Durham

The Nashville Area Chapter is very fortunate to have so many heroes that support our mission every day and we are honored to celebrate our partners and volunteers during this luncheon,” Joel Sullivan, regional executive director for the Red Cross Tennessee Region said. It is our honor to recognize these organizations, volunteers and community leaders with these awards and each one has made such an impact for the Red Cross and our humanitarian mission."

Lifesaver Luncheon tickets are on sale now for $75 online at RedCross.org/Lifesaver through April 1, 2024.
