Letter from Mid-West Tennessee Executive Director, Debra Roberson - May 2015

Our monthly volunteer meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 19^th, here at the Mid-West TN Chapter. Our theme for the meeting is “Bring a Friend for a Night of Fun & Games.”  I hope all of our volunteers will attend and bring someone with you.  Please help us find great folks, like you, who want to become a Red Cross Volunteer. 

Last week, half-way around the world the ground shook violently. Today we know that more than 6,000 people lost their lives. We know that number will rise, and our hearts and minds are with the people of Nepal and our colleagues who are facing the challenge of responding to a catastrophic disaster.

Disasters like the earthquake in Nepal are a feature of our world. We cannot prevent them - we can only prepare for them. So this week, in addition to talking about how we can help the people of Nepal, I want to encourage you to invite others to our monthly meeting and help us to be ready to respond when a catastrophic disaster strikes the U.S.
