Red Cross Helps Celebrate Month of the Military Child

Military Kids Serve Too Event to Be Held to Honor Children of Service Members

This April, the Tennessee Volunteer Region of the American Red Cross is proud to celebrate the “Month of the Military Child”.  The Nashville Area Chapter will be hosting a special event called “Military Kids Serve Too” on Friday, April 4th beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at their office located at 2201 Charlotte Avenue in Nashville.

“We are pleased to announce that we are expecting a very special visit from honored guests, Major General Terry M. “Max” Haston and Mrs. Anne Haston,” said Regional CEO, Joel Sullivan.  “The Red Cross is also grateful to our partners with Operation Military Kids and the Tennessee National Guard Child and Youth Program for helping to make this inaugural event a success to recognize military children in our community.”

Children from all military branches and components are invited and encouraged to attend, but space is limited.  Reservations are required by April 3rd and may be placed online at http://WESERVETOO.EVENTBRITE.COM.  Each child will also be honored with a challenge coin at the event.

In 1986, Secretary of Defense, Caspar W. Weinberger, designated each April as “The Month of the Military Child”.  This month is set aside to recognize the special contribution that the military child makes as their parent or parents serve our nation.
